Manic Monday's Measurements {May | Week 4}

This week I am unhappy, unpleased, and utterly frustrated by my lack of weight loss. I haven't dropped ANY weight in almost 4 damn weeks, and needless to say ... Tina is not happy. I am so stuck at 257/258, and can't budge at all. I have seen my Endocrinologist and my thyroid levels are perfect. I have 3 more fills for my lapband, but I should be able to lose weight still. So, because I can only do so much, I'm going to put myself and my eating/workout habits out there for everyone to critique and tell me what I'm doing wrong.

My Workout Regime {Every other day}

10 - 12 mins of cardio on an elliptical machine that's programmed to cardio workout.

25 - 30 mins of weight training with the lightest weight setting / 2 sets of 15 reps each

15 - 20 mins of cardio on the treadmill

OR

1 hour of laps in the swimming pool

-----------------------------------------

Breakfast

2 eggs & 1 slice of cheese on an Arnolds Select mini sandwich bread {whole grain & eggs are cooked in Smart Balance extra virgin olive oil buttery spread}

Lunch

Starkist Lite Tuna & Kraft Mayo {Made with Canola Oil} on small sliced homemade French bread

Dinner

Pork, Chicken or Beef cooked either in the crock pot or on the Foreman Grille & broccoli, asparagus, or sweet corn with squirts of I can't believe it's not butter spray, for taste.

Snack

Haagen Das single serving Raspberry Sorbet or baked Cheetos

----------------------------------------

Of course this can vary on any given day, but for the most part I've been trying to stick to well cooked, steamed, whole foods and meats. We've even been making our own bread so it lacks enriched flour and sugar. I want to know what you see wrong when you look at this. Where am I going wrong? What am I thinking is an okay thing to eat, and really it's not? Share your food knowledge with me!

Here is my image for this week ... as you can tell I'm not pleased with it, but I was able to fit into an old pair of jeans yesterday ... so I thought I'd have Charlie take my image to show you all that:

  1. Tina you are looking great even with no loss in 4 weeks, however I think you need to start changing things up just a tad bit because your body is getting used to your routine. I very seldom eat the same thing or do the same exercises each day. It is like your metabolism needs another kick start and the only way you are going to do that is to eat more carbs (fruits, veggies, grains) that helps get it going and less fat (not that you are consuming very much of that). Also you need to consume at least 1400 calories per day otherwise your body will go into starvation mode and that slows the metabolism.

    However do not get too discouraged, keep up your work it is keeping you healthy and active. Good job on your part Sug!

  2. Tina - I agree with everything that Alexis posted above especially the kick starting your metabolism again. I went to a nutritionist this week when I was inquiring about the lap band and she said it should be 3 meals and 2 snacks so maybe even though you are doing great in your meals you need to add more calories. Also, have you been increasing your cardio and this is the highest you are at? Your cardio may also need to increase. The fact that you fit into a pair of jeans that didn't fit before means that even though no weight is coming off, the inches are. Keep it up, you ladies are my inspiration!

  4. First let me say..everyone looks wonderful!!! Tina - you are doing great...and I agree maybe you just need to up everything a little and see what happens. Can't hurt. So..now for the bad news I got today. I didn't pass my weight lift test at work and not sure if I'm allowed to work until I do pass it, that is if I pass it. The test: Stand with feet should distance apart..squat to the floor with feet remaining flat. Curl 50lbs to your chest and stand up. Walk up and down three steps four times. Put the weight (it's on a lifting bar) on a sled. Push it 40-50ft then pull it back to starting point. Take the weight off and place on the floor the same way you picked it up. Do this again with 60, 70, 80, 90, and 100 lbs. I cleared 80 bombed 90. So my challenge is: I am borrowing the Total Gym from my loving daddy and working out the upper bode till I can get this passed. Wish me luck and send support vibes...I'm going to need it. Good luck with your week everyone and see ya Monday..same time same place!!! ♥♥♥♥

  5. Amanda, holy snaps ... 100lbs??? I don't think I'll ever be able to do that, not with my wrist and my tendonitis. What kind of job is this that they're making you lift this much???

  6. I'm a volunteer EMT. I'm not sure I'm going to be able to do it either. Then last night I found out that I'm the first person to ever fail this test but in the same turn I'm the first woman who's had to take it. All the other women grandfathered over when they initiated this rule. I am not happy about it either. I think, like every other man and woman testing, there should be a break for women. I'm sort of fighting it now that I have all this new info. We'll see what they say.

  7. Okay, so I just now sent my picture to Tina but I'm going to leave my comment so I don't forget. :) Yesterday I was at 275 which is pretty good since I had gained the last time. 1 more pound and I will have lost a total of 25lbs! YAY! And I bought a shirt in the ladies section of Wal-Mart instead of the women's/plus size. Granted, it was a 20 but it was still on the other side. LOL

    Tina, you have GOT to be losing inches because I am not (extremely) crazy and I can see a difference in you! I say change your workout routine a bit and see how that works.

  8. Ok, I sent mine off also but wanted to write before I forgot...
    I didn't have a good week but that was my own fault, with My oldest running into me with his dirt bike I was babying my leg and didn't do much of anything because it hurt! I gained 2 lbs. So know i'm back up to 202-203.. I'm ok with that it's my fault! I am down to 40" on my belly (measured around my belly at belly button level) Started (about 3 weeks) at a little over 43 so not bad not momentous but not bad.
    I'm trying really it just gets old, why can't I just cut calories and eat right and lose weight LOL why must I put myself thur "Hell" to lose it?
    I carry all my weight around my belly sometimes I just wish I could cut it off and be skinny LOL!)
    Everyone is looking good! Thanks for being on this journey with me!

  9. Long time follower, first time commenter :)

    I've been watching you ladies since you all started and I thought how great it was to have this support group! I don't have any friends near me who want to work out together or anything along those lines so this blog is just what I needed :) By the way, you guys are all looking great! You've obviously inspired me!

    I just had our second baby in March and I gained 57 pounds with her. I got up to 207. Immediately after having her I'm down to 173, but now I'm stuck. I would love to see the scale say 150 (which is pre-Caylix) and I would be absolutely thrilled to see it say 125 (pre-Connor) BUT my real goal is just to be able to run around with the kids and not get winded. I want to be able to do somersaults and cartwheels with my kids :)
